6th Grade Adventureland Trip

My favorite part about the trip to Adventureland was the ride Moon Chaser. It was a lot of fun! I loved how fast it went and how it did many flips and made you go upside down. It was really enjoyable to go on with your friends and laugh and scream with them on this ride. It’s something I will always remember.
- Julianna E.

My favorite part about Adventureland was the Fireball ride and all the other fast rides. It was amazing how fast we were going! The best part was to be with my friends on the rides.
- Jaxon B.

My favorite part about the 6th Grade Adventureland field trip was one of the rides called Turbulence. I think this because the ride was so much fun! And I love how we didn’t need to wait in a line to ride any of the rides. It was the best time!
- Catalina C.

My favorite part about the Adventureland field trip was all the different rides and being able to hangout with my mom and my friends. I also loved how the food was the best lunch food I ever had. I loved the trip in general and was very happy and grateful to be able to go to Adventureland with all my friends before graduating.
- William K.

 Robotics & Engineering Field Trip

By: Mikayla

The robotics and engineering field trip was a movie about people (kids in particular) entering a contest to build cities of the future to combat climate change, growing population, and rising sea levels. Some of their ideas were to create breathing skyscrapers, integrating nature into buildings, using eco-friendly materials, drone delivery, flying cars, using more renewable resources, and more. The field trip was a fun, amusing, and educational movie!

Math & Science Experience

By: Bella

The Math and Science Experience is a fun and educational experience for the students in John Street School to play different games teaching them about the different parts of STEAM! As you can see in the pictures there were so many different games and stations for students like me to enjoy. One of my favorites was a game where you had to see how fast you could click the light up buttons in your color and the person with the most clicks wins!

Building Team Updates

Our dedicated WSSl Building Team has actively visited younger students during recess to foster a positive and inclusive play environment. By facilitating structured games, they help promote teamwork, cooperation, and social skills among students. Their presence has made recess more engaging and enjoyable, while also providing mentorship and support. This initiative reflects our school's commitment to building strong, supportive connections across grade levels.

Guess Who’s Reading

Our “Guess Who’s Reading” initiative has been a fun and meaningful way to blend literacy with social-emotional learning while strengthening our school community. Students are challenged to guess which staff member is hidden behind a book, sparking excitement and curiosity around reading. Along the way, they learn to make thoughtful connections, inference skills and celebrate the joy of stories. Winners even get to take home a book of their own—promoting a love of reading that lasts beyond the classroom.

 Mindful Yoga

Our 2nd graders recently participated in a special yoga and mindfulness lesson during Physical Education, focusing on the connection between body and mind. They explored foundational yoga poses, learned mindfulness techniques, and discovered the power of controlled breathing. These skills not only support physical health and flexibility but also help students build focus, manage emotions, and stay calm during physical activity. It was a peaceful and empowering experience that highlighted the importance of whole-child wellness.
